Primesouth, LLC Completes Gas Turbine Generator Overhaul at Allegany Facility
Columbia, S.C. – Primesouth’s Allegany Station staff successfully completed an inspection and re-wedge of its 45MW General Electric Gas Turbine Generator in April 2011. Allegany Station is a combined cycle facility owned by Rochester Gas & Electric Corp. and operated under contract by Primesouth since January 2004. The lead contractor for the job was Regenco, who sub-contracted the mechanical aspects of work to TurbinePros.
Due to space limitations when the building was constructed there is no overhead crane and access to the generator rotor is restricted. Station staff and the contractors worked closely to overcome these restrictions, resulting in the construction of a supporting table structure which complied with weight, engineering and safety requirements. All work was completed on schedule.
